COVID Case
September 9, 2020
USD 405 - Lyons was notified that a student at Lyons High School has tested positive for COVID-19. Per our established protocol, we are thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting areas within the school facility. We are also in contact with the Rice County Health Department and will take the steps necessary to protect the health of our staff and students. The district is closely monitoring this situation and will notify families if any additional actions need to be taken.
LHS VB at Sacred Heart Salina

We will play at the high school V, JV, V... at the grade school, across the street, we will play JV, C..
There will be 60 tickets available for Lyons at the LHS office.
Due to shortage of drivers and wet weather, route and shuttle buses may run a little late on Thursday, Sept 10.

Time: 7:00 p.m. (SENIOR NIGHT will start at 6:32 pm on the Football Field)
CKL COVID GUIDELINES WILL BE EXPECTED FOR ALL SPECTATORS. (See attachment)
Masks are required for entry (per CKL Guidelines)
Seating will be marked off to ensure social distancing. Family groups may sit together but are asked to leave space around them. We are using every THIRD ROW.
WRISTBANDS will be required. LHS fans can get them by contacting the LHS office.
All spectators will use the LMS restrooms found at the northeast corner of the stadium. The Frog Dome restrooms will be unavailable this year.
The Concessions Stand will only offer pre-packaged items.

PSAT Sign-up has been made available to students. This test may be taken by 10th/11th graders. Cost is $17. Deadline to sign up and turn money into the office is September 15th. Test will be given October 14th. This test qualifies students for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.
Parents/guardians: all students currently enrolled in USD 405 schools will begin receiving free breakfast and lunches on school days beginning September 8 through December 31, 2020, or until funding is depleted. After December 31, 2020, or until the district is notified that funding is depleted, your student will return to the pay status they were prior to this date. If you have not applied for free/reduced lunches for the 2020-21 school year, you must still apply for the remainder of the school year; otherwise, you will be on paid lunches once this benefit has ended.

JV Tennis at Hesston cancelled for today, Monday, Tues. Sept 8
JV Tennis scheduled in Hesston today (9/8/20) has been canceled.
Parents of LHS JV and Varsity VB players need to stop by the HS office and pick up your 2 wristbands to be able to attend the Chaparral Tri VB matches this evening. Chaparral is limiting spectator attendance to 25 percent of gym capacity so each player is issued only 2 bands. The bands do not get anyone in free - those wearing bands will still need to pay at the gate. We apologize for the lateness of this message as the bands just arrived in the mail this morning.
Sterling MS/HS XC will be hosting Lyons MS/HS in a XC dual on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 4:00 pm. The site of the the meet will be Sterling HS. Both schools will not be attending the Hesston XC Invite that day.
The Chase HS JV Volleyball Tournament scheduled for October 10, 2020 has been canceled
LHS JV football games scheduled for this fall have been canceled. LHS varsity FB games will go on as scheduled.
Because of fan limitation at the Chaparral VB Triangular on 9/8/20, wristbands to be eligible to buy a ticket into the venue will be distributed only to the VB players and their families.
Due to unforseen circumstances the Larned vs Lyons FB game tonight in Larned has been cancelled.
Larned Varsity Girls Tennis Tournament September 3 meet results: Jayme Belote & Bella Bryant wnt 3-1 to earn 2nd place medals; winning two matches in tiebreakers. Tessa Miller 2-2 on the day earning a 3rd place medal. Shelby Johnston, Victoria Contreras, and Mia Bryant also competed for the varsity in helping the team to a 3rd place finish at the meet.
LHS Tennis at Pratt
Pratt is looking forward to you and your team joining us at Pratt High School for our Varsity Tennis Meet on Saturday, September 12th. The event will be held at the Walter Blake Tennis Complex in Graves Park, Third Street and Rochester. A brief coaches meeting will be held at 8:45 a.m. with the event starting at 9 am.
Pratt COVID Tennis Guidelines:
Each team will bring their own cans of balls. Tennis balls will not be provided or shared Please mark them in advance.
Bring your own warm-up balls
Please make sure you bring plenty of water/water bottles for your team. It will not be provided.
Masks are required for coaches and players when not competing on the court
Masks and social distancing are recommended for all spectators.
No scorekeepers. Players should report score verbally after every point and game
No pre or post match handshakes. If desired, racket touches can be used instead.
