The '21-'22 school year is in full swing at the CES library. Though Halloween can be both spooky and exciting (our library is fully committed to each of those sentiments!) our Lions remain calm, focused, and continue to feast on ever higher Lexile reads as if they were yummy mounds of holiday candy.

The library at Park Elementary School is definitely a fun place to be in 2021. I have worked on making it more kid friendly by grouping the books where they can be seen, and where the children can better find their favorite authors and subjects.  This is where the action is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

Speaking of fun......Mrs. Helen Friesen is volunteering in the library on Tuesdays this year.  We are so lucky to have her bright light shining here at Park.

New (to the library) books have definitely been the name of the game for the past year.  All of the damaged books were removed last year and new ones are flowing in.  This is beneficial not only for the students, but also for the teachers.  Thank you to all that have donated "new" books to this library.  Everyone appreciates you and your kindness!

Hispanic Heritage Month wrapped up on October 15th.  Your achievements are our Nations achievements.  Thank you for being you.

The Book Fair was held here in the library September 20th through the 24th and what a success it was. After many years, the PTO was again formed and ran the weeklong event. Thank you, parents, for volunteering your time to make it the megahit that it was.

Fall is upon us and we are ready for HALLOWEEN!  New pumpkins, bats and scary things are here to delight the kids.  New books like, The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs by Sam McBratney, Little Fox's Surprise by Trace Moroney and Leaf Jumpers by Carol Gerber AND several new nonfiction bat books have been added to the library collection.

Mrs. Adams At LHS/LMS

The Lyons High/Middle School Media Center has been busy this year! Student Council will soon be opening Starbooks Café up. Due to Covid, the café had not been up and running since before Spring Break 2020. So, weary students and staff alike will soon be enjoying caffeine goodness and fruity fulfillment in the Café’s coffees and smoothies.

The Annual Halloween Poetry Contest this year features Harrowing Haikus.    Winners will be announced October 29th. This will be the 5th annual poetry contest for the LHS/LMS media center.
