AIMEE PETERSON
A NOTE FROM MS. PETERSON...
My name is Aimee Peterson and I would like to welcome you to my resource room!
I currently serve students in Grades 3rd-5th Grade that are identified with an exceptionality. I also work with students needing a functional curriculum as well.
I am from Garden City, Kansas which is located in the southwest part of the state. I graduated from Garden City High School in 1999 and earned my associate's degree from Garden City Community College in 2001. I then transferred to Fort Hays State University. I started out in education but decided to go a different route and ended up graduating with my Bachelors in Speech-Language Pathology in 2003.
Instead of going for the masters in speech-language pathology, I decided to go back and finish the education program and also get an endorsement in special education.
I graduated with my Bachelors in Elementary Education with an endorsement in special education in 2005. I then moved back to Garden City where I taught my first year of teaching in a K-2 self-contained classroom. I then moved to Lyons in 2006. I first was in the resource room at Lyons Middle School working with the 6th graders but eventually made my way over to Central Elementary where I am at presently.
I enjoy spending time with my husband Douglas and our daughter Kynlee. I enjoy going to Kansas City Chiefs football games and spending time outside. I also enjoy reading and walking our dog Buford in my spare time.
