On Sunday the Rice County Arts Council hung a show at Studio 96 in Sterling composed of Lyons, Sterling and Little River Schools. While we are down a little compared to normal from me being gone the majority of last semester, the students have fought to get caught up and a few were recognized for their talents, but most importantly their hard work and efforts!

Junior and Senior students and parents: There is an After Prom meeting Tuesday March 21, starting at 6pm in the LHS cafeteria. We will be reviewing last minute purchases and needs. Parents can also sign-up for an activity that they would like to supervise during the After Prom. Money will be collected for T-shirts that have been ordered. Shirts are $10 for parents and $5 for junior and senior students. All other guests will pay $15 for their shirts. Check your email for Google Meeting link if needed.
Students who need points toward admission are encouraged to attend.

Saturday, March 11, the LHS Powerlifting Team traveled to Conway Springs High School to compete at their 15th Annual Powerlifting Meet. There were a total of 403 student athletes representing 26 schools. As a team LHS was represented by eight student-athletes who placed 15 out of 26 for team results. Despite missing a few team members due to spring break, trips and prior commitments we were able to have individual success competing and Maddox Link, an 8th grade student at LMS was able to become the first LMS student-athlete to compete within a Jr. Powerlifting Meet.
Every student athlete hit a personal PR in ATLEAST one individual lift once again.

Tuesday, our middle school band (7th and 8th grade) had our most successful festival yet! At League Music Festival, each performance is rated by an adjudicator (or a panel of three judges for the bands) using a rubric with 7-9 categories and multiple criteria in order to make ratings as objective and standardized as possible. The overall rating scale is as follows (descriptions of each rating are found in the image at the bottom of this email):

Ray and Evelyn Lippelmann Teacher Award
Has a teacher touched your life? Do you know a teacher who has been a
great influence on students? Anyone may nominate a teacher for the Ray
and Evelyn Lippelmann Outstanding Teacher Award. This is a financial
award that is presented annually to a USD #405 – Lyons teacher who has
demonstrated excellence in the teaching profession.
Previous winners from the past five years who are not eligible for the 2022-
23 year are Amanda Dawson, BJ Smith, Brian Friess, Trisha Stover and
Teresa Konda.
