Thursday, Sept. 14 was a fantastic day to run, and our times showed it! I had 36 runners for Lyons in various races yesterday. I think everyone is now running unless I can convince my 'manager' to actually run.

St. John medals top 20 in varsity races, and top 10 in JV and MS races. We brought home 8 medals: Jojo Vargas - 15th🏅Var; Marianna Boese - 17th🏅Var; Cain Villaseñor - 12th🏅Var; Paco Espinoza - 19th🏅Var; Edgard Zuniga - 5th🏅JV; Ricardo Tapia - 7th🏅JV; Aaron Villaseñor - 3rd🥉1mi; Adahir Rivera - 5th🏅1mi. We also had several runners just outside of medal range - Alli Solis, Havannah Vise, and Jose Recendiz.

In team scores: Varsity men were 4th out of 10 scoring teams. We ran well against some stacked teams. I still think that one of our struggles this year is that we're running freshmen and sophomores against other teams that include juniors and seniors. I have faith that we will continue to get stronger and be competitive this season. The ladies varsity was 5th out of 6 - only 6 points behind 4th place. Several of the ladies dug deep to finish strong. 3 teams had enough guys to form a full JV squad, of those, we placed 1st! Though there aren't any awards for JV team scores. 8th graders got 2nd to a very strong St. John team, and we don't have enough 7th graders for a boys or girls team, but I was pleased with the way they ran.

32 runners ran a season PR, and 23 of those were all-time PRs! Some of the all time PR highlights: Marianna Boese - over 2 min; Alli Solis - 3 min; Tatum Tipp - 10 min; Juan Enriquez - 46 sec; Edgard Zuniga - ~3½ min; Haiden Vargas - 7 min; Kolby Peter - ~2min; Angel Landeros - 3 min; Sarah Loughridge - 1 min; Tegan Tipp - 37 sec; Ava Almanza - 7 sec; Derek Valerio - 30 sec; Jon Steele - 17 sec; Alex Landeros - 22 sec; Scott Reazin - 1 min; Aaron Villaseñor 12 sec.
