ServSafe Food Handler is a national restaurant certification that assures proper safety and sanitation in the food service industry. The Sunflower Summer program returns this summer to once again provide FREE experiences for Kansas families. The program runs from May 25 to August 11, 2024 and allows families FREE access to a wide variety of experiences all over the state through the download of a mobile app. The Sunflower Summer website includes experience locations, app download information, and other links. One note on the app, due to the way the programing of the application works, the events will likely not go live until a couple of days before Sunflower Summer begins.
Congratulations to Xavier Solis!! He came in 2nd in Triple Jump at Regionals to qualify for state! He will jump at 11:30am next Saturday the 25th at Wichita State.

Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force announces 2023 Challenge Award recipients
TOPEKA — The Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force has named 97 schools as recipients of the 2023 Challenge Awards based on criteria met during the 2022-23 school year.
The awards recognize Kansas schools that are making a notable difference in student achievement despite facing significant challenges in their school population. Since its inception in 2002, more than 1,900 awards have been presented to schools across the state.
The Challenge Award recognizes schools for outstanding achievement and uncommon accomplishments based on Kansas assessment results in math and reading, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism rates and the socio-economic status of those taking the test.

Lyons had two schools qualify for the 2023 Challenge Award including Central Elementary and Lyons Middle School.
